Lessons and prayers from Day 2

Shine Through Good Works

Proverbs 3:5-6
5  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Why is darkness allowed?

  • To display the power of God and His glory over the enemy
  • To draw the unbeliever to Christ through our shinning

Key scripture – Jeremiah 13:15-17

Jeremiah 13:15-17
15  Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken.
16  Give glory to the Lord your God, before he cause darkness (darken, dim), and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
17  But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the Lord’s flock is carried away captive.

  1. Be not proud – Do not boast in any achievement or accomplishment of yours. It is Satan’s plan to constantly set pride in your heart. If you pride in your things you will walk on dark mountains
    Pray for grace to stay humble.

  2. Constantly give all the glory to God
    (Rev 5:11)

    It is difficult for pride to take over you when God is your first point of reference. Pray that God will help you to constantly remember to give all glory to God

  3. Speak Faith – Constantly profess the promises of God and not magnify your current situation. After all affirming your current situation won’t change it. Be like Joshua and Caleb

    Romans 4:19-20
    19  And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
    20  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

    Talk less, Pray more, Praise more (TPP). Talk less so you do not become a fool
    Pray for grace to speak less, pray more and praise more

    Ecclesiastes 5:7
    For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

    Ecclesiastes 5:3
    For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.

  4. Walk in light
    Matthew 5:16
    The light people should see are your good works- John 10:32, Acts 9:36, Ephesians 2:10, 1 Timothy 2:8-10
    Pray that your life will be full of good works no matter where you are

GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO GOD ALONE

  • Revelation 4:11
    Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The result of taking God’s glory: walking in Darkness or to be darkened or dimmed. Kawshak

Darkness can mean the following

  • Challenges or challenging times
  • Ignorance
  • Deception
  • Disfavour
  • Curse or Reproach
  • Death

LIGHT – Good works

Matthew 5:16
16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Good works (kalos) – virtuous, valuable, properly beautiful, honest, well worthy, distinguished
No sub-standard work or dishonourable work

John 10:32
32  Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

Acts 9:36
36  Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

Ephesians 2:10
10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1 Timothy 2:8-10
8  I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9  In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10  But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Timothy 5:24-25
24  Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25  Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

1 Timothy 6:17-18
17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
18  That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Jesus Loves You and Needs You

There are many wonderful promises that God has for both in this life and also eternal life after death. But to access these promises, you need to first accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour. Say this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I admit that I am a sinner. I thank you for the sacrifice you paid for me by dying on the cross and and rising up again. Today I surrender my life to you. Be my Lord and King forever and ever. Amen!
