The Desire to Be a God
Genesis 3:1-7
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
The Desire to Be a God
Be careful who you listen to. Be careful who you converse with.
Satan told Eve indirectly when no one was there that
- – God, the one who created you, is a bad person
- – Eve, your boss is a wicked man
- – Eve, the one who gave you this nice garden you are living in is very wicked
- – Eve the one who has been good to you is very selfish
- – He is fake
What Satan should have told Eve was that, I Satan got corrupted with wickedness and I tried to challenge God in heaven and He kicked me out, so i have also come through your friend the serpent to make you also rebel against God. I lost my position so I will make you also lose your relationship with God.
The Desire to Be a God
Matthew 4:8-9
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Jesus was on a mission to save the world. God sent him.
Satan crossed him with a proposal – to make the nations worship Him.
- “I will make you president of the world for people to worship you”
- “I will make you very powerful and successful”
Jesus turned his offer down and told him to leave His office.
I have a question for you today. Will you pass the fame and power test?

The Desire to Be a God
Matthew 25:14
14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
The Desire to Be a God
Matthew 25:19-30
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
The Desire to Be a God
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
The Desire to Be a God
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The Desire to Be a God
Mistakes the wicked servant made
- 1. To think that his master was wicked (ingratitude)
- 2. To allow the fear of failure to determine his action
- 3. To be laid back because he was not the owner or boss (not in control)
Disobedience and Greed was introduced by Satan to Man in the Garden and till now, the same operation is still in motion.
